Fastest way to make money is to not spend money. Monthly.
Buildings are exposed to dramatic and destructive weather patterns. With highs in the summer reaching 100ºF and winter lows plunging to -40ºF, buildings must be designed and constructed to withstand the local weather forecast.
At Northway Construction we intentionally build our buildings to outperform and elevate industry energy efficiency and maintenance standards. Our goal is to reduce long-term monthly heating, cooling, electric and water costs, to reduce the need for ongoing maintenance, and to increase comfort for your employees and customers.
But let’s put our money where our mouth is. Below is a real-world example of how our higher standard building techniques outperform the competition.
The Syvantis story.
Never judge a book by its cover … or a building by its facade.
The two buildings that make up the Fairview Office Park in Baxter appear to be replicas — they’re the same size, the same style, built right across a parking lot from each other.
Northway Construction built one building — the one that houses their offices — while another company built the adjacent building, home of Syvantis Technologies. While they may look the same, the buildings are vastly different.
During the winter months, for example, energy costs for the Syvantis building are more than two times higher than the Northway building. The standard commercial aluminum frame windows used in the Syvantis building are so drafty, workers often wear coats indoors to keep warm.
A specialized computer program was used to determine how to insulate, heat and cool the Northway building. High-end thermal pane windows, usually used in houses to ensure comfort and efficiency were used along with a 2 ton air conditioning unit and 60,000 BTU furnace.
The Syvantis building, which is exactly the same size — 4,500 square feet — has a 5 ton air conditioning system and 100,000 BTU furnace.
Together, these factors add up to major differences in energy efficiency, leading to energy costs more than two times higher in the Syvantis building compared to the Northway building.
